Wolf Lake straddles the

Mission

The Association for the Wolf Lake Initiative (AWLI) is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) working consortium of groups from communities around the lake, individual users of the lake, educators, researchers and academics.  It seeks to improve Wolf Lake and its surrounds by treating the lake as one lake.  As custodian of the Wolf Lake Vision as developed by the Bi-State Gatherings on Wolf Lake of 2000 and 2001, it is governed by a Board of Directors and retains an Advisory Board.  The Legacy Foundation serves as fiscal agent for AWLI and manages a bi-state endowment fund for Wolf Lake established by AWLI.

With an enhanced Wolf Lake as its mission, the consortium serves as a way to keep groups in an informational loop.  It also serves as a forum in which members exchange ideas, inspire others to action and perhaps engage in joint ventures on projects in the upcoming months and years. Projects sponsored by AWLI include wetlands and winter festivals planned by the WWW.COMmittee and conducts occasional tours of the Wolf Lake focus area.  It also convenes periodic bi-state community meetings on Wolf Lake , the Wolf Lake Vision Implementation Committee, a bi-state advisory committee to Wolf Lake managers.  Wolf Lake VIC is supported by the Bi-State Gatherings on Wolf Lake , comprised of specialists to advise Wolf Lake VIC ; the Bi-State Council of Wolf Lake Stewards, the Reciprocal Fish Licensing Committee and the Activities Guide for Wolf Lake and surrounds.  Groups can join or drop out of the consortium at any time, simply by notifying us of this intent. The consortium will exist until there is no longer a need.
